In a farewell message to the club’s fan, Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has announced his departure from the Emirates.
The 28-year-old keeper is supposed to enter in a £ 20 m move with Aston Villa.
The market value of Argentina increased after starring for the post-lockdown Gunners, in their run to the glory of the FA Cup and the triumph of the Community Shield over Liverpool.
Martinez has been at Arsenal since 2010, and has been a backup to other goalkeepers in large part.
But he got a chance to step up after Bernd Leno picked up an injury at the end of the campaign for 2019/2020.
With Leno coming back and his place again under pressure, Martinez has decided to move on.
“With my family I decided, 11 years at the club, 10 years worked so hard, I leave through the front door today.”
“For me I could not be happier to leave through the front door with the Arsenal fanbase supporting me and the club.”
“I’m very grateful for the 11 years at Arsenal, even if it was a hard road for me,” In a video released on Instagram he said.
