Lampard Talks About Starting Mendy Ahead Of Kepa In The EPL Dispute.

Chelsea director Frank Lampard reported that the new goalie of the club, Edouard Mendy, would have to wait to make his Blues debut, given that on Saturday night at Hawthorns Stadium, the Senegalese international hardly practiced ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with West Brom.

On Thursday, Mendy formally joined Chelsea from Rennes.

It is expected that the 28-year-old will be playing at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

“To start tomorrow is not going to happen,”  Lampard was asked about Mendy ‘s chances of replacing Kepa in the squad against West Brom at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“He has had a long week and not really trained.

“I haven’t spoken to him, but I will have a conversation with him and Caballero in 24 hours or so”. Lampard added.

“There is good competition between them.”

After beating Barnsley 6-0 in the third-round tie of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Chelsea head to the match.
